Concrete contractor services in Sunnyvale, CA
Vertex Sunnyvale Concrete is a concrete contractor in Sunnyvale, CA, that homeowners call when a driveway is cracking, a walk is heaving or a patio keeps holding water. We handle 16 kinds of work, from driveways, patios and walks to footings, walls and foundations. Your price moves with the slab's size and thickness, whether old concrete has to come out first, how much base work the ground needs and the finish you pick. The schedule turns on what the city asks for your project, the weather and curing, the days fresh concrete needs to harden before you use it. I'll give you your own figure in a written estimate after I've seen the site.

Concrete driveway building
We build new driveways and replace old ones on a packed base, with a broom finish, a brushed texture that helps tires grip when it's wet.

Concrete patio construction
Want room out back for a grill and a table? We build patios sloped slightly away from your house so rainwater runs into the yard, not toward the door.

Stamped concrete services
Stamped concrete is colored and pressed with a pattern while it's wet, so a patio, walk or pool deck takes on the look of stone, slate or brick.

Concrete sidewalk building
We build front walks and side paths with control joints, shallow grooves that tell the concrete where to crack, so any cracks land in straight lines.

Garage floor concrete
We pour garage floors with steel rebar inside to hold the slab together if it cracks, and a smooth top that's easy to sweep clean.

Decorative concrete
Decorative concrete covers color, stains, scored lines and exposed pebble finishes, for homeowners who want a patio or entry that looks like more than plain gray concrete.

Concrete retaining walls
We build steel-reinforced concrete walls that hold back a sloped yard, with drainage behind them so trapped water doesn't build up and push on the wall.

Concrete floor installation
Need a concrete floor for a workshop, studio or new room? We pour interior floors on a packed base and trowel them smooth, ready to seal or cover.

Concrete pool decks
Pool decks take bare feet and splashed water all summer, so we finish them with a textured top for grip and slope them to carry water off.

Concrete steps construction
We form and pour concrete steps for front doors, patios and side yards, with each step the same height so nobody catches a toe.

Slab foundation building
A slab foundation is one thick pour that a garage, addition or house sits right on, so we pack the ground under it before any steel goes in.

Foundation installation
Adding a room or building new? We dig, form and pour foundations to your approved plans, with the steel tied and checked before any concrete arrives.

Concrete parking lot building
For small business and property owners, we build concrete parking lots with a thicker slab for daily traffic and a slope that carries rain to the drains.

Concrete footings
Footings are the buried concrete bases under walls, posts and decks, and we dig them to the depth your plans call for so they rest on firm ground.

Foundation raising
Doors sticking or floors sloping? We raise a settled foundation back toward level and set it on firmer support, after finding out why it sank.

Concrete cutting
Need a trench cut for a pipe or one bad panel taken out? We saw-cut concrete along clean, straight lines so the rest of the slab stays intact.
Why Sunnyvale homeowners call us for concrete
Most of our calls come from homeowners, with some from small business and property owners. Here's what you can count on from us, and the habit behind each one.
You deal with the owner
From the first visit to the final walk-through, you're talking with me, and I'm on site checking our crew's work as it goes, so one person knows your job from start to finish.
Base, joints and drainage first
A slab is only as good as what's under it, so we pack the base and check where water runs before we pour. If money's tight, I'd trim the finish before the base.
Permits and inspections handled
If the city requires a permit for your project, we pull it, handle the paperwork and meet the inspector on site, so you don't have to sort out city forms yourself.
Plain answers to every question
I'll explain your choices, like how thick to pour or which finish suits the way you'll use the space, in everyday words. Got questions already? Call (669) 348-0343 and ask away.
How a concrete job runs with us
Here's how a job goes from your first call to the final walk-through, with a reply within one business day and a free estimate along the way.
Call or send a message
Call (669) 348-0343 or fill out the form on our contact page and tell us what's going on, whether it's a sinking walk, a cracked driveway or a patio you've been picturing. We get back to you within one business day to set a time for me to come look.
Site visit and written estimate
I come out myself to look at the ground, the slope and where the water goes now, and I'll ask how you plan to use the space. You get a written estimate, free and with no obligation, and we check with the city on what your project needs before anything is scheduled.
Our crew does the work
Our own crew breaks out any old concrete, digs out and packs the base, sets the forms and steel, then pours and finishes. We pour early on hot days so the top doesn't dry too fast, and the joints get cut where we planned them. I'm on site checking as it goes.
Walk-through and care
When the work's done, we walk the finished job with you and go over how to look after it. That covers curing, when you can walk on the new slab and the longer wait before you drive on it, so the concrete gets its strength before it takes any weight.
Tell us about the concrete job you have in mind
Send a few lines about the job and where it is, and we'll reply within one business day to set up my visit. The on-site estimate is free and comes with no obligation.

A Sunnyvale concrete business since 2013
Vertex Sunnyvale Concrete is a concrete contractor in Sunnyvale, CA, and I started it here in 2013 after years on a city crew pouring sidewalks and curbs and fixing what tree roots and time had broken. We're licensed and insured, and we work across Sunnyvale and the cities around it, with pages for 12 of them on this site. There's more about me and the crew on our about page.
Pouring concrete around Sunnyvale
Sunnyvale is home base for us, a city of family homes with driveways, patios and front walks that see daily use. You've probably spent an afternoon on the pathways or at the picnic areas of Baylands Park, which the county owns and the city runs, or let the dog loose in the fenced dog park at Las Palmas Park. The Sunnyvale Heritage Park Museum keeps the city's past on display through its collections and exhibitions.
On jobs here we see a lot of the same things, like walks lifted by tree roots, driveways that settled where the base gave out and patios that hold water after a winter rain instead of shedding it. We fix them from the ground up, starting with what's under the slab, and we do the same work in the cities around Sunnyvale.
Cities we serve around Sunnyvale
Vertex Sunnyvale Concrete is based in Sunnyvale, CA, and we work across it and the cities around it, including Cupertino and Mountain View. The 12 cities below have their own pages, but they aren't the only places we work, so call if yours isn't listed.
Questions about concrete work in Sunnyvale
How much does a new concrete driveway cost in Sunnyvale?
The cost depends mostly on the driveway's size, how thick it needs to be for your vehicles and whether the old slab has to be broken out and hauled away first. A stamped or colored finish adds to it, and so does extra base work when the ground is soft. I'll give you a written price after I've seen your driveway in person.
Why are some concrete quotes so much lower than others?
Usually the low quote skimps on the parts you can't see, like digging out and packing the base or cutting the joints on time. A slab poured over dirt that was only raked level looks the same on day one, then settles and cracks as the dirt does. When you compare quotes, ask each contractor how they prepare the base.
How long before I can drive on a new concrete driveway?
You can walk on new concrete well before you can drive on it, because the slab keeps curing and gaining strength long after it looks dry. Heavy tires on a young slab can crack it, so at the walk-through I give you the dates for your own driveway based on the mix and the weather.
Does a concrete contractor need a license in California?
Yes, for most jobs. The California Contractors State License Board requires a license when a project needs a building permit, uses any additional workers or comes to $1,000 or more in labor and materials. Sunnyvale also requires every business working in the city to hold a City business license, so it's fair to ask any contractor about both.
Do I need a permit to pour concrete in Sunnyvale?
It depends on the project, and the city asks owners to check with its One-Stop Permit Center at City Hall to learn what theirs requires. Any part of the job in the public right-of-way, the strip that holds the street and sidewalk, needs an Encroachment Permit. We sort that out before your job goes on the schedule.
Do you guarantee your concrete work?
Yes, every job is backed by our satisfaction guarantee. I'll also be straight with you that concrete can get hairline cracks, which is why we put our effort into the base and the joints that decide where cracks show up and how well the slab holds up.
Will my new concrete crack like my old driveway did?
Most concrete gets some fine cracks, but a slab on a packed base with control joints and steel inside usually won't break up and sink the way one poured on loose dirt does. At the visit I'll look at why your old slab failed so we don't repeat it.
Is my Sunnyvale home in a flood hazard area?
It might be, because FEMA has marked certain parts of Sunnyvale as Special Flood Hazard Areas, and the city's flood zones page is the place to check. Those areas are considered high risk for flooding and carry special requirements for new construction and home remodeling, which matters if you're pouring a foundation or adding on.
